Our Living Legends

We would like to take some time today to recognize a very special local athlete today…… Jim Anderson. He currently competes in the 75 to 79 Age Group.

Although he is 16 years older than me, when we are in the same race, I have seen more of Jim’s back than I have of his front. He competes in both Sprint and Olympic Events and has very respectable times.

I did some research and first noted Jim’s name in the Triathlon Manitoba race results in 2005. Since then, he has competed in approximately 44 Triathlon Manitoba Races. He has represented Canada in 4 World Championships. In 2010, he went to Budapest where he finished 9th in his age group in the Sprint event In 2012, he went to Auckland where he finished 10th in his age group in the Sprint event. In 2013, he represented Canada in London, England where he finished 9th in the Sprint event. In 2014, he represented Canada in the World Championships in Edmonton. He competed in the Olympic and Sprint events finishing 3rd and 6th respectively.

Jim has been a good ambassador for the Triathlon Sport. A humble gentleman who is an inspiration for all involved in this sport, but especially for some of us old “farts” who know there is Triathlon life after 60.

Congratulations Jim….and we wish you wish you continuous success in all your endeavors.
